You made me realise that Lilith’s character arc in S2, in fact from the time in S1 when she returns from Reya’s realm, is a mirror image of Ava’s. I could understand not just Lilith better—and she is a wonderful character—but also Ava in Season 1 when she tries to run away.
I don’t think she runs away just because she wants to avoid responsibility but also because her experience with the church and nun has been abusive (pretty much like Lilith’s with her mother, yet another parallel) and she had no reason to believe that the church or the nuns had her good in their mind. They just wanted to use her, just like Reya wanted to use Lilith (and from my POV, Michael and Ava herself).
Plus of course she has all these powers and changes that she doesn’t understand and is scared by and doesn’t know what do with. As does Lilith though I think in Lilith’s case it may have looked even worse given the appearance of claws and scales. Adriel might have looked like the only person ready to accept her for who she is just like Beatrice and Mary but more so Beatrice seems to be the only person willing to give Ava an ear and believe her.
The difference being that Adriel is manipulative and perhaps even thinking that his path is the best way, was trying to use her for his own ends. Unlike Beatrice or the rest of the nuns.
Lilith clearly didn’t realise that her sisters are still with her or that her loyalty is with them as well. (I do think they still care about Lilith too. Not just Ava’s fight but Camilla’s blowing up at Jillian Salvius for letting Lilith go while she was hurt and confused demonstrates that. It might be different now that she has killed Michael whom they all now like but I don’t think their relationship is lost yet.
My favourite is not Lilith though I do like all the nuns very much. Mine is—and it is such a cliche—Beatrice because I tend to like dedicated and controlled characters who hold a world within themselves.

In any case, thank you.
