Thank you. I wondered how you knew that Ava’s resistance to Michael’s plan and her own death was because apart from not wanting Michael to die, she didn’t want Beatrice to be alone. She does say she doesn’t want Michael to die. That part is clear. But the one about Beatrice is not, so on first look it appears that it is a purely selfish motive: she didn’t want to die.

But then I saw a clip of an argument Ava and Bea have in the car where Ava is impatient to work with Michael and asks Beatrice why she is stopping her. Beatrice says “I am your best friend and I don’t want you to die.” And she backs down and agrees.

Then you have the Ava’s fall scene where again, Beatrice breaks down and asks Ava not to leave her.

I guess that must weigh on her mind. As someone else pointed out, that is why she apologises to Beatrice after Adriel is killed.

So, the show does give enough indications that Ava does not like Michael’s plan because she doesn’t want to leave Beatrice alone.

PS: I think Ava’s reluctance to join the order is merely because of selfishness but also because her own experience with the church and nuns has been that of abuse. She probably doesn’t trust them.

Okay then. Thanks, Nick. I hope you continue to write. On everything.
